Figs are not for vegans

FIGS ARE NOT CONSIDERED VEGAN BECAUSE THEY HAVE DEAD WASPS INSIDE

Anyone who sticks to a strictly plant-based diet will want to remove figs from their repertoire. While the figs themselves are fruit, they often include bugs. Vegan Life explains that a female "wasp will enter the fig, passing into a part of the plant known as the calimyrna" while trying to lay her eggs. "Eventually, she dies… and is broken down by a protein-digesting enzyme inside the fig."

That's only a specific type of fig and that one isn't sold or farmed commercially.
I have fig trees in my yard. No wasps near them not the small ones nor big ones.

@greensnacks good to know,I don't like them
@NinaTina I stand corrected, some of these tree species are commercially sold.
But here in the balkans, the most common is the brown turkey fig. That one doesn't need wasps.
You can always ask what is the species of the fig and buy the one without wasps.

But tbh, even the ones with the wasps, the fig absorbs the body and it's not like you're gonna find wasp parts.

Name ANY vegan food that doesn't have some kind of insect, virus, bacteria, whatever included with the vegetable matter.
@ChipmunkErnie virus and bacteria aren't animals tho

@greensnacks They're not vegetables, either. And pretty much every food has some trace of insects in it, even if only microscopic.

Eh, from and ethical vegan standpoint this fact is irrelevant since you aren't killing anything from consuming the fig.
It's a myth, otherwise we'd have stingers in our fig newtons.
