Pics from my hike Saturday where Harriet Tubman helped slaves secretly cross into Canada

I don’t know how many people know about this trail. I’ve never heard anyone talk about it and I found it by accident.

The trail is at the bottom of the cliff in the USA side of Whirlpool Bridge. There is a plaque there about Harriet Tubman that said this is the location of the Underground Railroad where she helped the slaves secretly cross into Canada

There’s no sign or anything about a path but I did see these really old looking steps made out of rock and I followed them to see where they went. You path take these stairs all the way down the hill and you can walk along the Niagara river. It was really quite beautiful, but definitely not safe for young kids or people who have trouble doing stairs. Anyway, here are some pictures. You can see Niagara Falls in the background of one of the pictures and the brown bridge that you see in one of my pictures replaced the original bridge where the slaves crossed, but you can read about that in the plaque if you can enlarge my photo

I think of Harriet Tubman and I think of this song, written and sung by the astonishing Cynthia Erivo. Astoundingly powerful.
