A rare black swan had taken up residence on the big lake here near the beach. Its causing quite a buzz! My sister and I walked the dogs there today in the hope we'd catch a glimpse. It came right up to the bank, clearly enjoying all the attention it was getting from us and fellow walkers! What a gorgeous creature!

When captain Cook sailed down the Swan River in Fremantle, West Australia, he saw black swans for the first time. They are more aggressive than white swans.
