Found fossil footprints in a layer of stone.

I was hiking through a narrow place in a canyon. On a rock layer tilted up about 45 degrees there were footprints where something had walked. Of course I never reported it. My concern was the government getting involved and closing the aria to off roaders. I also know about some fossil bones of something. I didn't say anything about that either, same reason. Society has a ways to go in terms of respecting freedom. Maybe some day, but not now.

They might close it off to have the footprints photographed, measured, written up (with attribution of you as the finder). It would likely end up either being preserved it "in situ" with maybe a cover and explanatory info, or, if it's really significant, it might be carefully moved to a museum to be preserved from weather-related degredation and let many people see it.

I could also see researchers trying to carefully look to see if the path continues, etc.

Both the path and the bones are really wonderful finds--great for you!
@HobNoblin Environmentalism is about answering the first calling God gives us: to be faithful stewards of the planet.

We have been poor stewards of the planet. Clean air, water, soil makes for healthier

• rainwater
• drinking water

• seeing
• touching

• plants and other things living in the soil
• fish and other aquatic life

@SomeMichGuy I wouldn't know about God, I'm an atheist. I do know environmentalism is a scam. A tool of oppression.
@HobNoblin No, it's about preservation and bettering of the planet.

You clearly believe in radical freedom, not in freedom expanding until it starts to hurt others' freedoms.

The baseline "inalienable right" is to one's own life; without that, all the other rights are useless.

Environmentalism is about making a healthier planet, and thus, helping to secure our lives.

We have less and less freedom. Technology has only made us more enslaved; governments have become bigger and more intrusive. The penalties for some of our crimes may have become less than previous times, but there are more eyes on us than ever.

@emiliya Ultimately it's global banks and corporations that are the problem rather than government. After the banks it is those people among us who want to be safe rather than free who support tyrants.
