It was a fantastic weekend to be in the mountains. My son and I hiked up to a beautiful subalpine lake. There were gophers, a marmot, and about 50 ptarmigans. There were blueberries and huckleberries to eat on the way up. Today, all I had left in me was a short hike to a new set of falls (after a black bear suggested we leave out first hiking trail!).
@tindrummer no I don’t. I’ve been in bear country all my life. Knowing how to avoid them and react to them is important. Mostly, it comes down to giving them their space.
@Lumberjack70 Hmmm ... I'm in California and hike in black bear country but 'ol grizz scares me and I've never done trails in BC or Montana. Don't intend to either. 😎
