It must be hot and trying to cool off on the cooler ground.

I see squirrels doing it, and figured that is why.

I just looked it up. It is called "splooting". I looked up "fox sploot" and they do it, too!

@JoyfulSilence pretty much all animals will sploot. My cat did so the other day on the tile floor.

Of course it was 114°f, 45.56°c outside!
