Sunrise this morning in the northeast US through the haze of smoke from the Canadian Wildfires.

The air quality is not good. To affect us to this extent so far away puts this tragedy into an ominous perspective.

Yes it's in Southern Ontario. I have COPD and it's irritating my lungs. I can't imagine actually being close the the fires like out west.

@JimboSaturn There are over 150 fires in Quebec that are generating the smoke you are seeing. South of you we have an Air Quality Index of 294, which is at the extreme top end of the red hazard range. At 300 it changes to purple, which indicates an even greater hazard. I'm not sure what actions will be taken then--maybe declaring a public health emergency? We've never seen this before.

The latest AQI is just over 350.
Canada has such beautiful forests. So tragic.

Have a similar picture when there was a fire here. Perhaps a bit worse. It was really close then. About a couple of miles away. Made a whole bunch of updates back then.
Nobody does a thing in Washington. The two parties are a failure.
People online pretend we're stuck with no way out of climate change. It's a lie.
I'm hoping Dr West actually becomes our first independent president. He's actually for truth, justice and the Americans.
