I Spent Some Time in the Tree Stand Today

I saw a few deer and a pack of dogs. That's about it. I'm not a hunter. I just enjoy the solitude in nature, and watching the wildlife go about their day. I'm going to get a decent camera soon. I strapped myself to the tree with my harness today, as I have a tendency to fall asleep in the tree stand. Although I'm not a hunter, I certainly have a firearm with me. I'm fairly safe in the tree, but it's the walk there and back that can be dangerous at times. It never hurts to be prepared. Anyhow, it was a beautiful day with cool weather, and I saw a buck with a very large rack. I hope he survives hunting season.

I went out to cut firewood Thursday morning. Took 3 1/2 hours, 2 of which consisted of laying down against a tree like Rip VanWinkle and watching the leaves fall like giant snowflakes. What a perfect day.

@RogueLoner That's actually my plan. I want to die while sitting in the woods. They can do whatever they want with my body, but that's how I want my final moments.

That’s about what I’ve told people here either sitting in the woods hunting ( hunting is just another way to say watching nature)or by a brook with a fishing pole 🎣 . Can’t think of a better way but we don’t always get to choose.@UnstableDiffusion

@Repete I haven't been fishing in many years. That was something I used to do with a certain someone. After she died, I just stopped fishing. It's not the same.

Yes I know what you mean. I miss my fishing buddy to, she would go with me by a special brook we went to . It was our time together alone, to get away from the world.@UnstableDiffusion
