@SweetMae they are so beautiful when they open up. Their blooms last long and dries..presses wonderfully. Old time plant.

@ShadowWorker I had mostly plants that would have been around in Colonial times. A few were on the endangered plant list. Blood root, Lady Slippers and Jack in the Pulpits. I didn't know the names of them all.

@SweetMae how cool Mae! Yes, we have them all here too, growing in the woods behind the house. There are patches of Lady Slippers down the hill. Awesome plants.

@ShadowWorker The blood root had a pretty flower in the spring. The leaves grew in size over the entire summer and then it produced red berries. It looked like a red mist in the wooded area behind my house in the fall.

@ShadowWorker The University of Connecticut wanted to do a study of my property. There has been some research on the medical properties of the plant.
