World peace : when will they ever learn

Two icons of war. The first should haunt the Israelis for a long time, and so it should.

@QuietReverie Peace in the sense of harmony with your neighbour.
Involving building bridges, not walls.
Trying to understand another’s point of view. The Jewish ‘Shalom’ comes close to it. This is hard because it involves forgiveness.

Not internal inner peace, associated with tranquility within. The Christian point of view would see this as your relationship with God. The Buddhist view would be a state of nothingness achieved by Zazin.

@QuietReverie That war is nothing to do with me. I see that conflict in the Middle East as an outrage against humanity.

There is no such thing is world peace. The world is a cycle between peace and destruction. until Jesus comes back again, that's it.

Better repent. That's all I have to say

@FreestyleArt Oh no, there is nothing cyclist in this world. If you read Ephesians you will find God has a purpose and it is being fulfilled. Romans too reflects this. The Holy Spirit is constantly at work. Evil was defeated on the Cross.

God hears our prayers. We need to pray for wise counsel in solving this dispute.

Yes, there will be wars and rumours of wars until the end of time. And yes our Lord will come again. In His time. Nothing cyclic.

@peterlee what I mean is like every thousands of years seems like a repeat. Between the start of beginning. Suffering..living peacefully and then tribulations. I believe we are in the last.

@FreestyleArt They will both be there simultaneously. But we do not need to be on the side of destruction.

It is abhorrent what Isreal is doing in the Lebanon and the Gaza Strip. Which the first image reflects. Yet again the brutal massacre that provoked this is abhorrent too. Forgiveness and reconciliation are in short supply in the Middle East. Yes, repentance is needed. We should pray for this too.
There has never been world peace, there will never be world peace.

It’s an artificial concept that is too fragile and too at odds with basic human nature to be taken seriously.

@Saddam But we can expect better than this, and don’t have to stoop to their level.
@peterlee Good luck.

Americans might be forgiven or at least understood for not thinking about Vietnam, given their country was fighting an fundamentally unwillable war against geurillas, and how they were fighting.

The little girl in the centre of that infamous image from the Vietnam War, had been severely burned by the Napalm incendiary gel that was one of the GIs' standard weapons; and here presumably responsible for the fire in the background. She was rescued, survived and I think is still alive.

Not that the Vietcong was much better.

While six decades on, out of site of cameras photographing an Israeli Defence Force soldier pointlessly smashing a Crucifixion statue, that man's mess-mates and Israeli illegal "settlers" are still killing Palestinians in Gaza.
