What has any of this got to do with peace.
It seems like politics to me.
Do you equate democracy with peace?
Peace is about building bridges. Living in harmony.

Although he does not deserve the accolade, they only accepted nominations for this year's recipient through January 31st of this year. He'd only been president for 11 days and had already failed to end the Russian war against Ukraine on the first day, like he promised. Not many people, including Trump and his posse, seem to realize he doesn't qualify for this year's win in any way at all.
Congratulations to Maria Machado, brave defender of democracy.

"...nose thumbing..." No. The Nobel awards people are above being childish.
Donald Trump has not yet achieved anything concrete - only time will tell if his initiative in the Middle East will succeed, although this is the closest so far, and cannot be diminished in its importance. The outcome is still very much down to Hamas and Israel.
He has not "stopped the war" in Ukraine - he claimed he could but Putin treats him with disdain, really.
Being bellicose about Greenland, Canada and Panama would not help him, either.

@ArishMell I don't know that I would say the Noble Peace Org isn't willing to make a statement with their awarding. I don't think that is childish. I think that is showing that they are going to preserve integrity over popularity and why.
You only speak about his efforts to benefit from wars by trying to stop them and not the outright blatant destruction of rights and liberty within the US, which he is absolutely doing. "Resolving war", which isn't what he is doing, (he is trying to find ways to profit from gaining land through siding with dictators and geonciders, which isn't working towards peace, btw), isn't the sum total of "Peace", particularly when you are using gestapo police forces masquerading as ICE officers to subjugate citizens who oppose you.
Let's not lighten his egregious offenses to human rights and humanitarianism by simply claiming he isn't doing well at peace talks. He's not having peace talks. He's having talks that amount to, "Give me land/real estate and I'll help you wipe out the people you don't like."
To make the claims you are making greatly remove all the gross amount of human rights, liberties and lives right in his own country he is violently suppressing. I would be embarrassed if I were you to even make such a statement.

@FoxyQueen Well, it's not really for me to tale sides in a foreign country's internal unhappiness, but I am sure the Nobel Prize committee members are very well aware of everything a candidate does, not just the headline-grabbing actions that take all the attention.
I am well aware President Trump's attitude towards the Israelis and Palestine is vague an unpredictable, and that the present cease-fire is by no means his work alone. It was not that long ago he even suggested turfing the Palestinians out of Gaza so the area could be developed as a seaside resort for the rich!
In any case, the award would have been decided by some lengthy process that would all pre-date the present cease-fire in Gaza.

If she’s in hiding and I trouble how did she communicate with trump from Venezuela they would have tapped her phone
FoxyQueen · 51-55, F
@Monalisasmith86 technically he is supporting her cause in Venezuela, even if he is not anywhere else. 🤷♀
