I am a serious home gourmet.

@SW-User Technically, no, a culinary school rejected my application out of high school because I have too many food allergies

@NativePortlander1970 So you got creative? Is that it?
@SW-User It does
@Tumbleweed My Dad taught me how to cook pancakes on my fifth birthday in 1975, the same way his own Dad taught him out to cook on his fifth birthday in 1950, they were both very serious and creative home gourmets as well. My Dad tried with my older brothers on their fifth birthdays, but they didn't show nearly as much interest in cooking as I did, I took to it like a bird does to flying. I remember in school when home ec was still a thing everyone wanted to be my kitchen partner because they knew they'd get an automatic A with me. In one school in 10th grade I had one home ec teacher that hated me because I could cook better than her, on cookie day she deliberately shorted us half the butter and my kitchen partner was panicking because there wasn't any left, so I went to the fridge and saw there was sour cream, I took some and substituted it for the remainder of the butter, the cookies came out puffy and slightly tangy, they were a hit with everyone in class and my teacher was super pissed I showed her up again.

@NativePortlander1970 That's so cool!! My oldest grandson, just turned 12, always likes helping in the kitchen! And hahaha to your teacher, she should have been impressed. Shame on her.
@Tumbleweed If he likes watching youtube Chefs, here is my top favorite.

Good teachers do normally praise good students and are impressed by their accomplishments, bad ones get jealous and try to hold them back, often giving unfair bad grades.

@NativePortlander1970 Very true. I've had 2 of my grandsons watching the cooking shows, I'll have to tell my daughter about this one. Thank you 🙂
@Tumbleweed You're so very welcome :)
@Tumbleweed Chef McGrady is another good one, he used to be Chef to the British Royal Family and even has a video making QE II's favorite fish.

@Tumbleweed You're so very welcome :)
@Tumbleweed I have a feeling he'll binge watch their videos and your daughter's family will be treated to good meals with his experimenting with them :)

@NativePortlander1970 Oh he will! And he hunts too so he'll be very excited to cook what he brings home!
@Tumbleweed Here's one of Chef Jean Pierre's more advanced dishes if he ever wants to tackle it.
