I Am American

I've never understood this, but why is the US compared to smaller countries such as Norway, Finland, Germany, Japan or the U.K. in terms of education, crime rate, Health, etc.? Wouldn't it be more accurate to just compare the US to larger nations such as Russia, Canada, China, Australia and India?

Size is irrelevant, if the country isn't healthy then what excuse is it to say "it's just because we're more than them". If size was the problem, then why not split up?
