Some people are saying ICE are American Brown Shirts.

But they also point out that Brown Shirts showed their faces. I don’t know anything about that.

Comparing anyone to the National Socialist Sturmabteilung is quite appalling. It’s a bit like calling someone a Nazi, just shows lack of education.

What will you do when you need an even stronger word if you already used the worst analogy you can think of.

@meJess ICE may be worse.

@Bumbles So ICE is gassing disabled children, and working homosexuals and the politically unreliable to death are they? People are being transported in cattle cars? No sorry you said worse, I’m struggling to see what that might be.

@meJess Because it is the breakthrough of fascism and erosion of rule of law in the most stable and important democracy.

Also, Brownshirts aren’t all of those things. You’re getting them confused with the SS.

@Bumbles try again, look at the Sturmabteiling membership among doctors of the Aktion T4 programme. At least until they moved over to honourary SS ranks. SA membership was not just street thugs and they also ran the first concentration camps.

You compared ICE to a Nazi organisation, actually said they were worse. Fascism isn’t nazism though there are common factors.

How is ICE worse?

@meJess I already gave you my opinion. It’s called “disagreeing.” You’ll be okay.

I think you have the brownshirts, AKA stormtroopers or SA or Sturmabteilung, confused with the SS. The brownshirts engaged in intimidation, street violence, and arrests. Then on the "night of the long knives," July 1 1934 in the midst of a Nazi power struggle, the leadership of the brownshirts were executed.

The rank and file were still around, but many shifted to the Schutzstaffel, or SS, who moved into the power vacuum. The SS were the people in charge of the holocaust and other assorted atrocities.

The worst tactics of ICE, snatching people off the street and arresting people who film them, are not that far removed from the stormtroopers, though the stormtroopers were more into beatings and personal violence.

@ElwoodBlues Exactly.

@Bumbles good to see that my clarification of the activities of the SA was deleted, so that the narrative here is maintained.
