Americans, why are the Godfather movies popular, if there was talk against black people and no black actors?

First of all the movies were made in the '70s and during the 70s yes there was a lot of racism especially in the Italian mafia community they have never got along well with the brothers and the brothers have never liked the Italians so making a movie authentic doesn't make it racist
