Why is a voter ID an issue

Serious question. Why is a voter ID of some sort an issue? I need an ID to board a plane. An ID is required to drive a car, buy beer, leave the country, open a bank account, etc.

I am not supportive of voter suppression. But I do want honest voting without fraudulent voters.

21 million eligible voters in the United States do not have government-issued photo ID. And, for many, these IDs are very difficult to secure.

People have fought and died for the right to vote. Voter ID laws prevent people from exercising this right.

Accessing a photo ID is much more challenging for the young, the elderly, people of color, and people with low incomes.

@zeeva70 Bull. Those are democrat talking points. Congratulations on falling for their lies.

Sorry not buying this. @zeeva70

@Coldplay that's your choice not to believe it. It speaks more of your world being so limited that you're here asking a "serious" question when you don't have minorities or low income people to have this conversation with irl. More so when an answer is presented to you by an African American, you dismiss it. Yes, you too support voter suppression. Sounds like your guy didn't win a fair election.

No. Not at all. I am not dismissive of the things you state. I am not at all in favor of suppression. I am not a Trumper, believe it or not. And I did not know your race. Where I live you can get a state ID. It is $6 and can be processed at a State License agency. I’m sorry if my comment offended you. I truly did not intend it that way. @zeeva70

@Coldplay apology accepted. Where I live IDs range from $9-13. I've worked and volunteered with low income and minority populations. I know first hand that often getting an ID is out of reach for many or replacing it after it's been lost or expired. Not all of these people fall in this group but many do. Many face more pressing day to day priorities. It doesn't mean they're cheating when voting but it presents an opportunity for more privileged people to exploit this weakness. This is nothing new.

Thank you and I do accept this. @zeeva70
