Why is a voter ID an issue

Serious question. Why is a voter ID of some sort an issue? I need an ID to board a plane. An ID is required to drive a car, buy beer, leave the country, open a bank account, etc.

I am not supportive of voter suppression. But I do want honest voting without fraudulent voters.

They should freely issue a National ID card with your picture on it, problem solved, when you go to vote they simply scan your card. Even with voter registration cards, those don't count as ID as they don't have your picture on it so you still have to present ID to vote in most places. Notwithstanding that according to some on here, we'll all soon have a microchip in us after the vaccine,lol 🥴
