Why is a voter ID an issue

Serious question. Why is a voter ID of some sort an issue? I need an ID to board a plane. An ID is required to drive a car, buy beer, leave the country, open a bank account, etc.

I am not supportive of voter suppression. But I do want honest voting without fraudulent voters.

It’s an issue because of the precedent for voter suppression, especially of both women and people of color. Some states who were traditionally red have implemented new voter laws in what seems to be an attempt to prevent future “blue turnout”.

@bijouxbroussard you've got mail in ballots if you can’t show up in person. In addition, just about anything can be used as proof these days: a utility Bill, a bank statement, social security card some states even take a pay stub.

Anyone that’s not incredibly lazy can’t say it’s too difficult. After all, a stamp will get the job done. You can’t expect the community to bring the voting booth to your front door.
@Adogslife I don’t expect you to understand the concern.

@bijouxbroussard well, if you’re raising it as a concern due to race or sex, then simply explain how a white male can figure a way to vote, but a black female can’t - or a black male for that matter.

You know when it is, where it is and whether or not you can get there. How is that about race or sex?
@Adogslife Like I said, you don’t get it, and I can see from your question I would probably be wasting time trying to explain it, but I’ll try. Yes, I can do all of those things where I live. But in the South last year we had to warn relatives to make certain they were still registered so that they received those ballots. In several (mostly black) areas names were being arbitrarily scrubbed from voter rolls. And considering the mass turnout in November the only reason anyone would feel the need to change the process now would be because they didn’t like who won.

So your saying, without doubt, that blacks were being purged from the voters registers? And this can be documented?
@Adogslife Yes.
