Why is a voter ID an issue

Serious question. Why is a voter ID of some sort an issue? I need an ID to board a plane. An ID is required to drive a car, buy beer, leave the country, open a bank account, etc.

I am not supportive of voter suppression. But I do want honest voting without fraudulent voters.

It isn't, really. Not to me, anyway. It's the particular kinds of ID requirements that some states have or are trying to impose on registered voters, that are sometimes burdensome for them to acquire.
