Massive COVID upturn in the last few days

Wasn't it supposed to disappear like magic right after the election? I kept seeing that claim here on SW at least, and heard it at least a couple of times out here irl. Instead there is a huge increase nationwide about a week after election day. Almost like all that in-person voting was some sort of nationwide super-spreader event. Whodathunk?

I think Americans are silly for believing a virus has a political opinion

@Tinkles I don't think anyone is seriously claiming that. Some delusional folks on the far right sarcastically make statements to the effect of the virus having a political opinion, thinking that this somehow lends credence to the hypothesis (I won't justify it by calling it a theory) that it's all just a hoax. Everyone else here in the US knows that it's a contagious virus and will do what a contagious virus does. That's why so many of us voted by mail. Did you notice that the vast majority of the mail-in ballots were for Biden whereas more in-person votes were for Trump? Interesting that is.

@Tinkles Some of the other replies to this post are excellent examples of the conspiracy hypothesisists.
@NorthernBear I've seen claims by both left and right that the virus will suddenly shift after the election. So don't make it political. Any expectation on the viruses behaviour from an election are dumb and anyone saying is wacko, given both sides have said it, means they are both wacko. As you have a 2 party system, you are all wacko.

@Tinkles The next time you see someone on the left saying it, lookup the word "satire."
