I Am American

I am the granddaughter of 2 WW2 vets, a daughter of a Vietnam vet, ex-wife of an Army vet, and the mother of an Army soldier. I was raised to respect those in uniform, and stand for the flag. I am teacher who starts every school day off with the Pledge of Allegiance, just as I had done in school. Yes it is your right to not stand for the National Anthem. Please be mindful you are not only disrespecting the American Flag, but those who have fought for freedom and your right to have an opinion.

I'm not sure that the United States is the country it was when my parents were in WWII. In some ways it's better but in a lot of ways it's worse. Pledges, flags, and Fox News are not going to fix this country. Compassion,Education, economic stability, Competant leadership are what is required.
