@FreddieUK I had a few family members who “passed”, but those who could used the advantage to go to schools that weren’t available to black students. My great-aunt took classes at a segregated millinery school, returned home and with my grandfather, established a business.

@bijouxbroussard It's good they succeeded against the odds, but so sad that the odds were stacked against them that way. Even more sad is that in many places it is still the same, but better disguised.
