I dunno, but a) he's a comedian and b) he's technically correct but c) there isn't slavery now. File under "Point well taken".

@uncalled4 But what they’re celebrating is about this country’s history, however. And slavery was a part of that history —even after Independence.

@bijouxbroussard I don't think anyone is celebrating slavery on July 4th, though. That's my point.
bijouxbroussard · F
@uncalled4 No, but it is about a historical victory that excluded a segment of the population. I don’t begrudge anyone else celebrating it, but what he said was fact.

@bijouxbroussard So, since there was slavery during the first July 4th, we shouldn't celebrate it? I did say he was correct.
bijouxbroussard · F
@uncalled4 No, anyone who wants to can & should. But the perspectives of those who see it differently should also be respected. That didn’t happen for Rock; even if he was kidding, he really got slapped back for it. (So to speak.)

@bijouxbroussard It doesn't bother me in the least because he was stating a fact. I'm a big fan of Chris Rock. Probably should have said HI to him when I walked past him...but he was talking to Adam Sandler!

@uncalled4 Oh, wow ! 😃
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard I thought I told you about that. Yeah, right in the hallway. I could have been King of All Dicks and broken into their convo, but they were completely busting on each other, I can't remember what was being said but it was two friends ranking on each other and I couldn't bring myself to mess it up.

@uncalled4 Sandler’s pretty conservative. But I imagine he stayed out of that particular frey on July 4.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard Didn't know that. Makes no difference to me. This is America, express your opinion.
bijouxbroussard · F
@uncalled4 Conservatives and Progressives used to be able to find much more common ground than lately. 😞
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@bijouxbroussard I don't know if it's common ground as much as it's deeply dramatic, emotional reactions. When did we get so over-caffeinated?
