I think they are rightfully worried about ending up with too many duplicative groups.

i.e.

I Despise Donald Trump
I Hate Donald Trump
I Hate President Trump
etc.

Perhaps users should be allowed to "suggest" a new group. Then have the mods either approve the suggestion, "merge" the suggestion with an exisiting group or not approve it.

There is probably also the time consuming process of getting prior posts into the proper merged groups.

I also don't get the group title? What's so great about it? And why should it be loved?
Or am I overthinking this... is just great to belong to a group because you belong to a group?
