What’s happening in Leeds right now?

Should be a good warning to Americans, but most will ignore it. There have been plenty other examples as well.

Leeds is 200 miles from London. It might as well be ten thousand miles. The area of Leeds is poor, the community disenfranchised by decades of Conservative austerity measures (a political decision heavily criticised by the Court of Human Rights). Social services moved in to remove young Roma children from their drunken parents. The Roma community fought back to prevent the move. The Leeds police sent riot officers to deal with it. Seeing the police enter the area in force, local people began attacking them and the police retreated. Local Muslim councillors moved in to stop the riots and prevent people setting fire to vehicles. Right wing agitators like Tommy Robinson tweeted that Muslims were the ones rioting, which was totally untrue. Those attacking the police weren't even supporting the Roma people, they had their own agenda.

Effectively, the area was a tinderbox brought about by political measures that created widespread child poverty. The riot was a result of a number of different events, triggered by a variety of social issues. It's complicated and severe and it needs intelligent adults to solve those myriad issues. This is just the world and the way it works (or doesn't work). It isn't the fault of immigrants, British Muslims or social services. The root causes are deep and complex. They aren't solved by memes and knee jerk reactions.

@Richard65 Thanks for this. But why is Leeds poor, it never used to be. A good road and rail system
