Many people including him didn't know it was there. That's why I said to a degree yes he did discover it. And you can't expect people to know something when it wasn't taught to them. @StrawberryMilkshake

@Spoiledbrat it’s called research. You get given a context and if you have a shred of critical thought you’ll go and research it. That’s how degrees work.

For the record it was Amerigo Vespucci who discovered America, and made it known to Europe, it was Colombus who went and exploited it in the name of Christianity. Hence why he was more famous.
A lot of people don't have degrees and many degrees require one history class that may not cover that part of American history. Further there are people who aren't curious or don't have a reason to not trust what they were taught. That's just people being people. @whoami1993

@Spoiledbrat american degrees are awful then, since degrees over here cover the subject of study. And critical thought and curiosity is human nature. If you don’t have that then you’re seriously ignorant.
