I remember this song coming out, not sure how though. I was only 11! As a kid I always admired her and thought she was the prettiest singer I had seen.

I also remember a snobby classmate singing this for a talent show and ruining it 🤣

I remember her mainly from the nude/lesbian photos that led to her resignation from the Miss America title. Much ado about nothing, as far as I was concerned, but quite a scandal at the time.

@MellyMel22 It was quite a scandal back in 1984. First, she was the first black Miss America, which garnered a lot of attention back then. And then the photos surfaces -- full uncensored nudes, some bondage-related, some with another naked woman in sexual poses. Middle America got outraged and demanded her resignation. I'm not sure if it helped or hurt her career. Most Miss Americas get quickly forgotten, the controversy surrounding Ms Williams might have actually helped her career, but it's hard to say. The published photos are all online even today.

@ChipmunkErnie I have the original Penthouse magazine. It’s so mild by today’s standards. I mean, there are still nudes of Melania out there (I’m pretty sure Trump couldn’t pull them all). And she’s First Lady. Middle America didn’t say a mumblin’ word, either. 🤨
