Growing up in my hometown I knew in my heart I had no place there. All I could think about was moving away. Somehow. Joined the Air Force. Halfway round the world and back, only to return to my hometown 6 years later. Felt like nothing had changed. Moved away 7 years later. Living in that piss puddle known as my hometown after going halfway around the world and back was absolute hell. I felt stuck. Couldn't get a job. Couldn't settle down. Moved away. After a few years I realized that was the right move. Everybody I grew up with has our hometown. But hell, I got the rest of the world.
