The Knife prioritized matching the music of their album Shaking the Habitual to the anger in the lyrics, even if it meant creating challenging, unconventional tracks. Karin Dreijer emphasized staying true to their ideas.
The Knife explores the tension between ecstasy and doubt in dance music. Their original "Heartbeats" masks the romance with wired sounds, and their later albums haven't included anything as pop-oriented
