I have a copy of 'the grand pecking order' and once in a while listen to parts of it. I wouldn't say songwriting was the strong suit of this combo, but when they shut up and play there are jams upon jams befitting gentlemen with their pedigree.
I saw them live at the Greek Theater in Berkeley with Tim and Josh and the fall weather was really nice and we met up with that drummer guy whose name I can't recall and he had some prime intoxicants and so the ensuing show had a good shimmery quality and the acoustics were spot-on,natch.
It was really exciting for me to watch Stewart Copeland cos of memories and his wrists are certainly a force of nature and a national treasure if you ask me.He was all psyched because he went to BHS and had a genuine grin for most of the performance.
The whole band was tight from the get-go and stayed in the pocket even when it was implied and kind of subtle. They did a homage to Band of Gypsies which melted faces and then Skerrik came out and him and Col. Les played these strange driftwood looking things which was neat as well.
I think I snuck in a bottle of Jager so a righteous buzz was maintained as the sun dipped below the iconic carillon and much silliness and highjinks ensued ,mostly having to do with pulling Josh out of situations, because for whatever reason bad manners ran strong in that boy even before his full crack up.
Yes,I am a fan of Oysterhead. Thanks for reminding me.
