More appropriate now than then

This came to mind because I had an original Beta version copy when it was made. Not sure what brought it to mind but Low and behold it and a another version are on YouTube. Very few views I believe because people don't know about it's existence.

I saw at the end how some of the pieces were from the early 80's, about the time the song came out.
I never saw this but yeah, very 1980's. 80's is my turf! :D
The news report rooms are much simpler and not all flashy like today.

Gibbon, one thing you and I seem to have in common is our love for nostalgia.
I like to find old tidbits from the 80's, my childhood.

Now this might be a "Sit down" conversation but let me ask you since in the 80's you were a young adult during the time - what was it like for young adults during that decade?

I will tell you mine -
I had just turned five when it started and barely 15 when it ended. So my childhood. I wasn't able to do much but us kids were fascinated with what seemed to be super advanced technology, the music and movies at the time, and holidays meant something. We all wanted to learn karate because of "the karate kid" and tons of other martial arts stuff on TV.

Of course we were terrified of WW3 happening and of HIV. ALL the propaganda around that. I even remember (and played quite a bit) a game called "Rush N Attack" (like Russian attack?)
But yeah We thought we were doomed.

@Punches I was 25 and getting married in 1979. But I had the same fears you mentioned between the ages of 5 and 15. Up until 3rd grade I experienced the Air raid sirens and hiding under the desk or going into the school basement storage room. Two different schools. I had an incredible fear of nukes. It was the era of the Cuban missile crisis which I didn't understand until years later reading how close Kennedy came to pushing the button with Russian missiles in Florida's backyard. But I played drums in a band during my last two years and the summer out of Highschool. My music era truly listening was from the mid 60s to the mid 80s. My favorite music is still the psychedelic era. That was truly special because you could identify the band of a song you never heard before the lyrics started because each was that unique. My first radio was a pocket crystal radio, no batteries required just a single ear speaker. I got into studying and building my own stereo speakers and miss the sound of the audio systems we had then. It's needless to say I believe I grew up with the best rock oriented music that ever existed. Those historical long songs from Light my Fire to Inna-gadda-da-vida and Rare Earths version of Get ready are forever ingrained in my mind from playing them on a stage. One of us went into the Navy and came out and went into Jazz named Steve Abshire who is well known in the DC area and has played with some big names in the jazz world.
