Thoughtful post @Grateful4you. A sweet centered mush of a song where all is not as it seems.

@RoaringLion Exactly right! Oh the irony. At least hers is a happy ending. Ike overdosed on his own toxicity.

Well put sir, and thank you for the best comment @Grateful4you!

And yes, I realize this song isn't from the "Private Dancer" album, just an example of when they were good together they were great, sad that Ike was so abusive that Tina had to run away and hide from him, borrowing money from one of the back up singers to survive.
@Grateful4you Were they really "good together" if he was raping and beating her every chance he got???
Seems to me like they might have been better off apart...

@HootyTheNightOwl By "good together" I meant ONLY the joint musical efforts. Nothing else. Thanks for commenting.

@Iwillwait It really is, she REALLY paid her dues and deserves everything she has. She went through hell with Ike.

@Grateful4you Yes, he was a Monster.
Grateful4you · M
@Iwillwait Much like Joeseph Jackson, he had no interest or compassion in the person only creative outcomes for their own benefit and profit.

@bookerdana I'm not a big fan but admire him for the character he created.

The vinyl copy of their album River Deep-Mountain High (1966) that I owned had a sticker on it saying it was the greatest album ever, a quote from George Harrison. It was great!

Good one...where is Tina now?
