"With or Without You" – U2

On this day in 1987, U2’s “With or Without You” started a three-week run at #1 on the US singles chart. It was the Irish rock band’s first number-one hit in both the US and Canada. The record made the Top 20 in at least 15 other countries.

“With or Without You” was critically acclaimed after its release and has been included in a number of “greatest songs of the 1980s” and “greatest songs of all-time” lists.

I think it’s a masterpiece. Definitely one of the best popular songs of the past 40 years.
