Another great song from the same album, as it was used for the end credits of the hilarious Wes Anderson film The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
(which is both a parody of and homage to Jacques Cousteau)

@BlueGreenGrey As many times as I've watched the DVD,this is a film I wish I could see again for the first time. It hits me on so many levels. Genious soundtrack, natch.
@dubkebab One of my favorite films for sure, and the soundtrack was great, including flamenco, Ennio Morricone, Devo, The Stooges, and bossa nova covers of a few other Bowie songs:

Funny, light and entertaining... this song makes us see Bowie's humor ☺

Bowie was the embodiment of art itself. He often combined visual art with his music. He painted too, which is of no surprise being the creative soul that he was. He is sadly missed.

Thank you for sharing these, I like discovering artists who I have not come across like Seu Jorge. I looked him up on YouTube and loved how he plays his guitar. Upon hearing his Portuguese version of Bowie's 'Space Oddity', I subscribed to his channel. I love that song of Bowie's and so I think I shall post his original in my next post. Thank you, my dearest friend🤗
@LilMissAnonyMOUSE I'm glad you liked them my dearest friend, and I thought you might like Seu Jorge 🤗

Apparently Bowie himself approved as well:

... Playing the role of troubadour deckhand Pelé Dos Santos, Jorge sang Bowie’s music his way, in Portuguese, in a manner so soulful that Bowie himself said: “Had Seu Jorge not recorded my songs in Portuguese, I would never have heard this new level of beauty which he has imbued them with” ....

(Of course Anderson would've named his character Pelé 🤭⚽)

I know I was very surprised when he died, I didn't see that coming :( I'm not sure I ever encountered Bowie's paintings before, thank you for telling me of this side of him. One I particularly like after browsing some in an article about his visual artistic ability is this one:

Signed Zenzi, it was painted in 1999 and is a protest against hunting in Africa

@LilMissAnonyMOUSE thankfully Bowie seems to have been an anti-Hemingway when it comes to respect for animals other than humans 🐘

I thought maybe Anderson was just simply going with arguably one of the most recognizable Brazilian names of all time, for his Brazilian character, but it does in fact seem to be the case that he is actually a futebol fan.

It would've been interesting to see what would've happened had Bowie not chosen a path in his other artistic endeavors. It's all the more remarkable with how history transpired though, with him truly being a bit of a modern Renaissance man ☺

@BlueGreenGrey I was just reminded of Mr.Rollins' tale about the thin white duke-

entertaing take on such a renaissance figure.
@dubkebab wow Bowie covered Laurie Anderson ... but then I guess that's not so strange, since he was friends with her husband (there was actually a restaurant here in Charleston called the Hominy Grill (which closed back in 2019) that had an autographed photo of both Laurie Anderson and Lou Reed dining at one of their tables ... I remembered being surprised to see the photo on the wall (this was either 2008 or 2009 ... apparently around the time they both got married, incidentally)

For some reason around the time the restaurant was closing for good, the chef posted a pic of the blank space on the wall where the pic had been (grrrr a pic of the pic would be more helpful, don't taunt me 🤣

It's pretty cool that Bowie knew of Henry, even reading interviews with him, and really followed through on getting Reed to call Henry!

Thanks for sharing this, this was awesome!

edit:
This is a pretty damn intriguing cover, even though he seems to only be handling some of the vocals:
