The Gnostic writings are full of stories covering this period. Elaine Pagels gives a good account in her book, The Gnostic Gospels. Don’t believe a word of it.
Just like Nehemiah, he went about his work till the time was right. Nehemiah was in the wrong place, doing the wrong work. We have all been there. Good preparation though.
