TL:DR - life is short, spend time on things that matter

I'm not a Taylor Swift hater. Her latest album is great. Her philanthropy is commendable.

I'm being reflective, and I think it's easy to dismiss haters as being salty about her success. For me, these haters remind me, it's important to think about how I chose my heros.

I didn't have good parent role models growing up, so I substituted with what was around me. Celebs aren't heroes, their fallible and they don't represent me. Growing up, I idolized a few Celebs, and when they failed in the public eye it felt like betrayal. The other side of that argument is also true, they don't know me and they aren't better than me.

I'm almost 40 yo so I remember a time in my life when there was no social media or internet and Celebs only existed in TV, movies and print media. Today social media bludgeons us to death with Celebs who are unbelievably perfect image and "values" while selling us something they can profit from. I think haters can be forgiven for being sold or repulsed by these fake idols.

Idk if Taylor Swift is a good person. She does good things in public and her music and performance are great. Just being famous and making a lot of money isn't a good enough reason to dislike (or hate) someone. But I guess what I'm saying is, life is too short to dedicate even a small amount of hateful energy (or adoration) towards a Celeb who doesn't know who you are. There's great people in your community, look to them for inspiration and guidance. And, just let people enjoy entertainment for what it is, fun. I like Taylor Swift, so sue me lol
