“Everybody Told Me” – Steve Vaus

“Everybody Told Me” is a lovely old-style soul tune, composed and performed by Steve Vaus.
I first heard the song in a recently viewed episode of the French TV series, Balthazar. I had never heard of Vaus. This is some of what I learned when I researched the singer-songwriter’s background:
Steve Vaus (also known as “Buck Howdy”) primarily writes and records country music, though he sometimes ventures into other genres. He has been nominated for four Grammys and won the Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album for Children in 2010.
Vaus is also a politician. In 2012, he was elected to the Poway, CA city council. Two years later, he was elected mayor of Poway, and he continues to serve in that position. He was commended for his response to the 2019 Poway synagogue shooting, which left one person dead and three others injured. Vaus reassured the community that "we will put our arms around one another and walk through this dark day together".
