[media=https://youtu.be/nUUyFrHERpU]

Legendary bluesman John Lee Hooker performing a version of his song, “Boom Boom”, in a scene from the 1980 movie, The Blues Brothers.

The film features musical performances by a number of great artists, including James Brown, Cab Calloway, Ray Charles, and Aretha Franklin. Among those performing “Boom Boom” with John Lee Hooker are noted blues musicians Big Walter Horton, Pinetop Perkins, Willie “Big Eyes” Smith, Luther "Guitar Junior" Johnson, and Calvin "Fuzz" Jones.

Movie critic Gene Siskel called the film “a marvelous tribute to the urban blues sound". Writing for Empire in 2013, Kim Newman said it had "better music than any film had had for many years”. In 2020, The Blues Brothers was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the US National Film Registry, deeming it "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant”.
