Not quite up to the level of their best music, in my opinion, but it's not bad. Might have been a hit had it been released when the Monkees were at the peak of their popularity.

@Rutterman Looking back, I was surprised how many songs the Monkees performed that were written by Neil Diamond. Not just "I’m A Believer" but
"Star Collector"
"A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You"
"Look Out, Here Comes Tomorrow"
"She Hangs Out"
"Love To Love"
They had some great tunes to work with. And in return, their popularity helped introduce Diamond’s music to an even wider, younger audience at the time.

@bijouxbroussard That's interesting. I wasn't aware Diamond had written so many of their songs. Sounds like it was a mutually beneficial relationship.

@Rutterman This song also probably seems sub par because it was their first attempt without studio musicians, just them and one of Mike’s friends on bass guitar.
Peter was the one playing the harpsichord.

I am currently sitting in a noisy coffee house, keeping the volume down as I hold my phone to my ear.
So even though this was not released in the 60's, I am reliving my 60's transistor radio experience: I can't understand a single word! 😂

I saw recently that Andy Partridge of XTC thought The Monkees was an accurate portrayal of a rock bands existence
