Patti Labelle & The Bluebelles, "I’m Still Waiting" (1966)

This song is the first I remember from Patti Labelle. My cousin’s record collection.

I took a classic African American history a few years ago on the internet. The professor played the song "Strange Fruit" by Billie Holiday. It was the most haunting some I've ever heard.
@originnone Right. And I remember people asking at the time why Kent was more important ? Two years before that, there was the Orangeburg Massacre in SC, where police fired into a crowd of 200 black student protesters, killing three and injuring 28. The only reason we knew about it was because of family down South. The police claimed they thought they were being fired upon, but they never found any guns among the students.

@bijouxbroussard It's downright eerie to a white person just learning it for the first time. It puts such a new perspective on some things happening now....I know that sounds trite but after having that class open my eyes, I can't recluse them....I almost wish I could....
@originnone This was a popular sign during the 2020 protests, which kind of sums things up:
Nice soft sound
