"Ill Wind" (Flanders & Swann)

I can't give a copy, but among my favourites are Ill Wind.

A song about the theft of the narrator's French Horn - we can guess the motive from the words, set to the finale of Mozart's Horn Concerto No. 4 in E flat major.

This was actually banned by the BBC at one time (before the early 1960s, I think) because they disapproved of parodies of classical music. It was the same Alan Sherman's Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah. Couldn't get them played even on Uncle Mac's Children's Choice!

@FreddieUK Good Heavens! I never knew that. Thankyou!

Evidently the disapprovers didn't twig that although classical, and indeed Classical, music takes considerable skill to write and perform and we should respect it, most was still intended to entertain as well as inspire!

I think Amade Wolfgang Mozart would have been amused by Flanders' and Swann's take on what is a witty rondo.
