Was grunge the last time rock music was in the spotlight?
I'm not someone who says "rock is dead" but it's not in the spotlight like it was before. I know there are still some good artists but it seems like after grunge rock music took a backseat.

What spotlight? As if. In 1992 at Anna Banana's in Honolulu we realized the bands couldn't even improvise an instrumental section, and All lyrics had to be cleared in advance - and the mics actually went dead and we had to leave the club on Saturday night at around ten PM because of a non approved set. You been hearing the music that the Pentagon wants you to hear since before that.
