I’m a boomer and I will be glad to walk you through some questions you have about home recording. You will need a computer and your preferred DAW, and an interface which connects your microphones and instruments through USB to the computer and the DAW program. You’ll also need a microphone and depending on what instrument you are using you may need a direct box. Personally I use and recommend Focusrite interfaces, they have a good website which is a great place to learn more about home recording. I use Apple’s DAW which is called LogicPro X, but it’s not free. That said there are a number of decent free DAWs on the market. Feel free to message me if you like with further questions about this.

@rush2112 I’ll be honest it’s almost impossible to make money with music. Once you have some tracks recorded you can utilize a streaming service distributor (I recommend DistroKid highly). There you can put your albums and/or single tracks on all the streaming services through the distributor. The most you can expect as an independent artist per stream on Apple Music, Spotify, etc. is a half a penny USA currency. I know you are in Poland so some things may be different, but your Music will be distributed all over the world. Don’t let this discourage you, it’s a great idea to explore your art and recording is a wonderful pastime.

What technologies do you have to record yourself

We used to record on wax cylinder records.

Then moved up to flat records.

Then 1/2 and 1/4 inch magnetic tape, better known as reel to reel tape.

We had 8 tracks tapes to.

Then it got smaller down to the palm of your hand. Same technology as the reel to reel tape, just much smaller. It was called the cassette tape.

Then the Compact Disc came. Then DVD and them Bluray Disc.

Now people are using their cellphones and computers to record themselves.

My advice use software that works without being online and you can store your music/single in separate files that on-line can't access.

Never trust the Cloud storage servers. They get hacked all the time. Mostly by their own employees

Or just find a tape recorder and blank cassettes tapes and record your stuff that way. They still make the stuff

Well it change a little a bit, but you still can make your own records at home.

@HumanEarth CDs too: a lot of music is sold on CDs.

I have no idea if such software exists but it would be great if recorded music could be "watermarked" digitally with serial-numbers and an anti-copying programme. (Rather as stock-photograph sellers use, I think, at least for their on-line catalogues.)
