"La Bohème” is playing at War Memorial in June…

I actually cried when I forgot and picked up the phone to call Mom—we saw it years ago and she had wanted to see it again. It’s the first time I’ve done that since her passing. Pop says he still occasionally imagines she’s out running errands and will return. 🥺

I asked him about going to see La Bohème, but he says he doesn’t feel much like heading over to the city. I suspect the fact that it’s Mother’s Day this weekend is weighing on him, too.

I once watched my wife sing Musetta in La Boheme for the British Youth Opera at Saddlers Wells. Goo dnight that night. First time she met Lady Di.OK opera but Pucinni wasnt such a nice guy to his ladies.
@Captain That’s really cool. ☺

@bijouxbroussard She said Lady Di was delightful. She also got good reviews from the Telegraph and Stage, but it was all down hill form there I'm afraid.

More years have passed since my dad died, and the intense sorrow you felt of not being able to call your mom is something I can, and do, empathize with. 😞

I still get that momentary thought to tell my mother about something before remembering... It's a poignant reminder of the love that does not stop with death.

I still find myself reaching out to talk with loved ones who are no longer with me in this world. Sometimes, I almost hear them answer.
@bowman81 Someone gave me a card that said, "When you’ve really loved someone, you can still hear their laughter —even from the next world." 🥹

@bijouxbroussard God knows I have fumbled enough to give them a good laugh. A good sense of humor is a blessing. 🥴
@bowman81 My mother came to appreciate my sense of humor only in the last 15 years or so. She once told me I was like her father, who appeared very serious but was hilarious when he "let his hair down".
I'm sorry for your loss. With any luck maybe La bohème may return to the area soon but at a time of year with less saddeing associations. Are there any more convenient opera venues in your part of the area or are such productions always confined to locations that are more arduous?

It’s such a beautiful and moving opera.
@Harmonium1923 Yes. 🥹
