Top 40 Metal Albums

I had to urge to make this, I haven't thought about my faves in a while. Order's pretty rough but generally representative of my tastes. I'd love to talk to some fellow metalheads on here!

Iowa got me through seven months of a broken hip in 2011. I'll forever be grateful for that record haha.

@thepreposterouspanda The power of metal 😎 lol, Slipknot never got better than Iowa

@NiatheDeerHunter It's true although I really like Vol. 3 as well.

Their latest record made me so sad. 😂

@thepreposterouspanda I do like Vol. 3 but it's their Black album essentially. Too melodic and accessible. Stripped almost everything that made Iowa an assault on the senses.

And yeah wtf was that latest album, I was listening with my sister when it came out and we were just SO bored

@NiatheDeerHunter I think they wouldn't have made it past album 3 if they had tried to top the rage of Iowa unfortunately. Too many substances, too much aggression haha.

Ugh, it's like the album just gave up halfway through. It's a shame because Chapeltown Rag and The Dying Song were both pretty solid tracks, and so was Hive Mind. The rest of it though...

@thepreposterouspanda Yeah you're right, the band has admitted it themselves of course. I can relate unfortunately 😅

Yeah they were, the rest was just lacking any edge whatsoever. Definitely their worst album. I'm thinking maybe it was because of label disputes or something.

@NiatheDeerHunter Same here, booze almost proved my undoing. 😅

Jim Root was saying they didn't spend enough time hammering the songs out before they went in to the studio and you can definitely tell. I also think Corey Taylor not doing well mentally probably played a big part in it, did you see that video he put out recently?

@thepreposterouspanda Glad you got over it, it's a tough battle! I've been sober for four years now and still going strong!

Oh yeah I did see that. I'm glad he's working on his self-care now. Slipknot, as a band has been through so much devastating shit over the years.

@NiatheDeerHunter Hooray, that's so awesome!!! I'm still using cannabis daily but it's for chronic pain and anxiety reasons, not just to get blasted haha.

They really have. I still remember that press conference when they had to tell everyone Paul had died. They were so broken up.
