I can see your point, but I have to disagree that metal appeals to low intellect. We can't say that everyone who listens to a certain music style is of a certain intellectual level, yet it is known that people with high IQs tend to enjoy many different music genres, instead of being reduced to a specific one.

I think I have at least two types of what some people call music that I can't stand .your heavy metal, and rap ( most rap).
I only have a couple of rules on music that makes me turn it off instantly.
1. I like to hear and understand the words.
2. The music has to be so I can hear the words if someone is singing.

I like most music if these rules are kept.

Not all of it is bad. But I agree with some of what you said, some bands are extremely repetitive and it's quite distasteful. I hate bands that do nothing but play in low chords, squeal and scream like an animal being murdered, but there are some good bands out there with really talented musicians that have clean, understandable vocals. To each his own I guess.

Most of metal fans I've met were math nerds. Your point of low intellect is invalid.
