Hallelujah

I love that song I learned from Shrek "hallelujah" and I sing it passionately. One of my favorite verses, probably misrembered but here goes

"Maybe there's a God above
And all I ever learned from love
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you
And remember when I moved in you
The Holy dark was moving too
And every breath we drew was hallelujah!!!"

I am a raging atheist but songs like this one make me want to join a choir. I feel the love and loss and aching in this song so deeply. The whole song is (to me) about love and faith. It literally brings me to tears sometimes when I sing it after I've warmed up well and the melody flows smoothly.

Yeah, this song is about love not god.. I’m pretty sure I heard that from somewhere..

I was introduced to it when Hilary lost 2016 election and Kate McKinnon played and sang it on piano with genuine tears in her eyes.

I'm not even American to begin with.

@Doomflower Wait, listen to its Leonard Cohen's version if you haven't. And also Pentatonix's.

It's funny how some religious songs are moving even to Atheists/Agnostics and once in a blue moon I need to listen to them once more...also there are some incredibly funny videos on Youtube of people dancing to them - always cheers my day up.

I can’t listen to that song. It just makes me feel like dying and never seeing loved ones again.
