Dope, but I like the original too.
GoldnJulz · 46-50, F
@SleepingWithGhosts I like both but I’ve gotten bored of the original so this keeps it fresh.
This song was more than perfect for the Apex movie.

Thank you.

🙏

@ineedadrink Yep it felt about as authentic Vertical Limit (2000)
Or even Cliffhanger (1993)

LOL 😂

I just watched this movie a few weeks ago. Intense. But I still fell asleep during it. 😒

@ineedadrink I watched it a few weeks ago too. It was just ok I thought. I was mildly impressed with Taron Eggerton’s performance as a “bad guy” I was more impressed with his performance in the Tetris origin story film. I loved the soundtrack for that film.

Scarlet Johansson seemed to be phoning in her performance in my opinion.

@GoldnJulz They did have quite a few clichés going on.

Generally I have a low tolerance for cliffhangers as I have real trouble turning off my "that's bullshit" bell. 😅

@ineedadrink Omg I can’t imagine what your daughter is dealing with right now. I’m so sorry for her.
I vaguely recall a show like that. I think it was Bear Grilles(so?) that was the guy who starred in it but I can’t be sure. I’ll have to look it up.

I have had so many concussions (among other serious injuries) that I have asked my parents to have my brain examined for CTE if I unfortunately don’t outlive them. I have already shortened my life span by 10-15 years due to my chronic pain syndrome which arose from my back injuries and a failed surgery. I was always accident prone from early childhood. I had the worst luck when it came to getting seriously hurt. I had the kind of drive to do things and I didn’t care about the consequences on my body. I used to try and convince myself that I was actually able to worry less because of the things that I had already been able to survive and pull through. I know it is dangerous to do stuff like backcountry snowboarding and solo mountain biking but I have always had a lot more free time than my friends mostly because they would have to work a 9-5 and I have been in the position of having a career like snowboarding professionally and so I was often alone and I would try to be more careful but as you said my happy place is when I’m pushing my limits. I just feel more alive when I’m doing things that take all of my focus and abilities to not get seriously hurt. I realize now that I have always been an adrenaline addict. It’s really my one true vice and true love.
I love to challenge myself and I have had a lot of success in doing so. But it also means that the few times when things go wrong they go horribly wrong. As much as I hate to admit it I have even enjoyed the times when I was in life or death situations. I was challenged to my absolute limit and I was able to “win” and live. The adrenaline rush is so intense that I have actually gotten sick from nausea and thrown up during the come down. I get a weird sort of positive persona when I have a concussion. One neurologist said that it is the definition for being “punch drunk”. I almost forget that something bad has happened and I can be chatty and friendly with people that I don’t know. The emergency room at the hospitals in the places I have lived during my adult life especially have gotten to know me on a first name basis occasionally or at least they have become familiar with me by face. They often remember that I snowboard(ed) professionally. I have had a lot of repetitive injuries. I’ve broken my tibial plateau on my right leg twice in consecutive winters and I have fractured my L5 vertebrae 4 times in 4 consecutive winters. I have broken both wrists more than twice on my left and 5+ times on my right. I still need to get my spinal fusion removed and replaced with a more extensive fusion because somehow I was able to break the titanium and it no longer functions properly to support and contain the spinal slippage. And by far my head injuries are the worst and most numerous of my serious injuries. The things that I have done to my head accidentally have been so severe that I have not been able to deal with light and smells and I often have to just shut myself in my room and put ear plugs and a sleeping mask on to keep from getting overstimulation. And the depression that comes with head injuries is the absolute worst. I wear helmets for every single sport and activity that I do. I even have a helmet for surfing though I don’t get in the water much because my back injury makes it difficult to pop up on the board.
I have a collection of trophy helmets that “died in the line of duty” but I don’t feel like displaying them anymore because I have too many of them now. I have lost relationships because of the way I treated my activities and the injuries that came with them. It’s just not very attractive to be unable to share a bed because my pain is so bad that I can’t even tolerate the movements and the contact with my bf for example. Anyway I keep saying that I need to write my injury experiences down but I never do and then I have these super long explanations on someone’s post. I’m sorry for that. I’m sorry for your daughter having to deal with a headache all the time too. I hope she improves someday soon.

@ineedadrink Well thank you ☺ I’m touched. I’ve been told that I should compile my crazy experiences into stories and write a book but I’m not sure if I have the skill to do it in a way that others would find interesting. I know I could just write it all down for myself too. Maybe some day.
