Found you when your heart was broke

Found you when your heart was broke
I filled your cup until it overflowed
Took it so far to keep you close
I was afraid to leave you on your own

I said I'd catch you if you fall
And if they laugh, then fuck 'em all

And then I got you off your knees
Put you right back on your feet
Just so you could take advantage of me

Tell me, how's it feel sittin' up there?
Feelin' so high, but too far away to hold me
You know I'm the one who put you up there
Name in the sky, does it ever get lonely?
Thinkin' you could live without me

Baby, I'm the one who put you up there
I don't know why

Gave love 'bout a hundred tries
Just runnin' from the demons in your mind
Then I took yours and made 'em mine
I didn't notice 'cause my love was blind

This has happened to me a few times. Sometimes, too, the people who build you back up are doing it to keep you trapped. It's a hit or miss. I've started looking at situations differently. I'll happily be someone's friend. I'll go with the flow. It goes beyond that; fine too. They need to know I'm not holding on to anyone with a death grip anymore. I've done that, and the people felt suffocated and ran. I've had someone grip that tight, and I felt controlled. The bottom line is, let it flow. If someone floats away, fine. They stay and engage, then I will too.

@BeesAndTrees 🫂 I wish I could save you the pain. I don't say this because I want pity or anything. I've been the black sheep of my family. I have heard I love you when they were looking for the next best thing behind my back. I know how it hurts; it eats you alive. I honestly wish I could save you that pain.

@WanderingHelplessly me too. The world is made for people who aren’t cursed with self-awareness.

Also, the callousness of people saying they’re “a good guy”. If you have to say it, you’re not one.

@BeesAndTrees Exactly, I don't tell people that.
