I saw him live at the forum in Montreal when I was a teenager. He was the last performer in that night's line up.
People started leaving......so rude!!!
He simply stopped singing; sat on the edge of the stage and was chatting with the people near the front of the orchestra seats. When all who chose to leave early, were gone, he invited the rest of us to come on down to the orchestra seats. There weren't even enough left to fill those seats. He never got back on his feet. He sang as he sat on the stage, chatted between songs. Eventually the stage hands started cleaning up, the the cleaning staff started cleaning up in the seats. All that time, he sat. He talked. It was so intimate. The best concert I've ever gone to.

That definitely was rude. Performers like Tommy Edwards, The Four Tops, Johnny Rivers, the Temptations and the Righteous Brothers are rock and roll legends that deserve our respect. Their music is 100 times more beautiful and has more meaning that most of the garbage they put out these days.

@Barefooter25: I saw so many of the greats at the forum. Fats Domino, Paul Anka, the Coasters, Diana Ross and the Supremes, Del Shannon and dozens more. 1955 to 1965 was a fantastic time for me. There was a very Famous Deli near the forum. It was called Ben's Delicatessen. The walls were fill with glossies of the big time stars with Ben, himself. The best thing was, anyone could go there, eat right there with the stars, and even chat with them, but the rule was, you didn't ask anyone for an autograph while inside the restaurant. You'd get escorted off the premises if you bothered the people for an autograph while they were trying to eat.
